Trading in a car? There are 2 things that will have a negative impact on your trade value more than any other. If the car was in an accident and the accident is reporting to CARFAX, 50% of car shoppers will never know your vehicle is for sale because they search for accident free vehicles only.
If you drive above average miles, this will also hurt your resale value. Average miles differ from car to car. For example, average miles on a common car like a Toyota Camry will be very different that average miles on an exotic car like a Ferrari.

In a previous video we worked a deal for a client in Pennsylvania who wanted to trade their 2013 Toyota Sienna for a new Mercedes-Benz GLE350. All the kids were out of the house and off to college and the family no longer had a need for the minivan.
We made the deal easy for the client and he in return was honest with us about the condition of his van. It was a very nice trade overall, unfortunately not the type of vehicle that we could keep to re-sell. The expectation level that comes with any pre-owned vehicle sold from a Mercedes-Benz store is too high to sell cars this old with imperfections, even when consumers generally would have lowered expectations for a vehicle of this age.
