Halsey - Panic Attack | Vevo Official Live Performance

If you found yourself on Halsey’s Instagram in October 2024, you’d have a hard time finding Halsey anywhere. Instead, you’d come face to face with Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and… oh, wait that IS Halsey! Fans have long marveled at the pop virtuoso’s world building skills (who could forget the ornate, gothic scenery of 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power?’), but it feels like Halsey has taken the biggest creative swing of her career with ‘The Great Impersonator.’ She labels it a “confessional concept album.” As the October 25 release day approached, fans watched her inhabit a kaleidoscope of musical heroes. That was only the beginning. We decided to take the nostalgic trip one step further with these Official Live Performances, seeking to answer the questions: “What if Halsey arrived in a different time? What if she recorded in the 1970s, 80s, 90s or early 2000’s?” So we built four interconnected stages reflective of each decade - with vintage outfits and instruments to match. We captured the action on 35mm film for that timeless feel. Leaning into personal authenticity, Halsey did her own makeup. Team Vevo and Team Halsey’s long history of collaboration allowed this to be one of the series’ most ambitious shoots. The fun kicks off on album release day, and spills into the next week. Introducing KATSEYE | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2025

In the year of the girl group comeback, KATSEYE stands out from the pack as the global crew. There’s Daniela, Lara, and Megan from the States. There’s Swiss singer Manon repping Europe, Sophia waving the flag for the Philippines and Yoonchae from the pop group Mecca of the past decade, South Korea. It’s a novel concept, developed via a tried and true method - a talent contest. The six gals were the finalists of The Debut: The Dream Academy. Afterwords, the real work started. “We were training 10 to 12 hours a day,” recalls Lara. They also moved in together. “We became sisters,” says Manon. Months of dance training and singing sessions culminated in the aptly titled “Debut.” A swaggering bassline matches the pop confection’s main announcement: KATSEYE is the result of detailed planning, but the energy is all natural. “We ain’t flexing, babe we do what we do.” Perhaps more impressive is second single, “Touch.” Having arrived in July, it boasts more than 170 million Spotify streams and 60 million-plus views for the whirlwind video. Those are phenomenal numbers. So much so that we had to jump in on the rapidly-ascending ground floor. That fans are going to go crazy for these performances might be the easiest prediction we'll make this year. Sitting together on the DSCVR stage, this constellation of six young stars giggled in anticipation about 2025 plans. A couple even got goosebumps, a sensation that many viewers will certainly share.

Only superlatives come to mind when trying to sum up Olivia Rodrigo’s last few years. Her impactful debut ballad ‘drivers license’ goes hand in hand with words such as “most” and “best”: most streams on Spotify in a single day and week, Top 100 most-streamed songs on the platform, the Best Pop Solo Performance award at that year’s GRAMMYs. That the teen sensation could follow the “drivers license” craze with “good 4 u,” “deja vu,” and ultimately her debut album ‘SOUR’ - all now equally beloved - was the first sign that the pop world had a rarified capital S Superstar on its hands. You can forget about that dreaded sophomore slump, too. Thanks in part to her trusty producer sidekick Dan Nigro, ‘GUTS’ elevates all the ingredients that really popped in ’SOUR,’ the 90s slacker rock guitar arrangements and riffs, the theater-kid earnestness, the talkative asides. There’s one key thematic difference. “Lots of the new songs are about growing up rather than breakups,” Olivia proudly stated recently. When we linked up with her at LA's Million Dollar Theater, not only had her wattage grown brighter, her command of the stage and camera were somehow even stronger than before. Speaking of growing up, "pretty isn't pretty" takes aim the not-so-nice social pressures one faces as the spotlight grows brighter, especially women. Another gut punch delivered on a platter of angsty pop-rock perfection.

If our Official Live Performances of “pov” and “safety net” reveal anything, it’s that Ariana Grande excels at her job because she’s so passionate about the results. You don’t hit the high notes, you don’t exude candor, and you don’t make pop music as moving as she does without crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s. A very cool Cali session with the look and feel of a cozy little meadow was a perfect place to turn some of the best tunes on ‘Positions’ into utterly memorable performances. Go Team Ari. In a typically inventive move, our hero chose to loop her vocals when it came time to perform the album’s title track. Watch her augment the band’s moves with a little layering of her voice. As she references both the kitchen and the bedroom in her lyrics, the sound stacks up, taking on its own internal rhythm. Beautiful.

Now we’re waiting for ‘Austin,’ Posty’s latest and perhaps most revealing work to date (his real name is Austin Richard Post). It arrives July 28, and the singer has told fans that it’s “some of the most challenging and rewarding music for me, a least – trying to really push myself and really do some cool stuff.” To celebrate the arrival of his fifth full album, we united with Mr. Malone in SoCal last month. The results are stellar, with Post being deeply candid and deeply expressive for the cameras. With a fetching pop perspective, he’s leveling up once again, no doubt.
