Russell T Davies returned. David Tennant came back. Ncuti Gatwa was cast as the Doctor. Disney+ signed on. A spin-off was announced. Everything seemed to be falling into place.
So how did we end up here?
With Doctor Who now heading into another wilderness period, Russell T Davies stepping down, Bad Wolf moving on, Disney+ exiting the partnership, and the Christmas Special cancelled, I wanted to look back at the entire RTD2 era and pinpoint exactly where things started to go wrong.
From the excitement of the 60th Anniversary Specials to the mixed reception of Seasons 1 and 2, the falling ratings, behind-the-scenes rumours, and the many unanswered mysteries left behind, this is the story of Doctor Who's rise and fall.

The 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant Performance ($168,880 as specced in Canada, $145,645 in the US) had seen some changes to go along with the new ‘Performance’ name added last year. This includes more horsepower and torque - up to 621 hp and 627 lb ft respectively, less sound insulation, a lighter and smaller differential, a more ‘emotional’ transmission, and some design tweaks among other changes. But does the new RS 6 live up to what you might expect of a Performance Audi? And does it still have that sleeper wagon status? Thomas and James can’t wait to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. We interviewed Doctor Who' Steph de Whalley and asked your fan questions! What an absolute JOY she was!
Steph starred in 2024 Christmas Special Joy to the World and returned in The Reality War.
"Joy to the World" is an episode of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It was broadcast on BBC One and released on Disney+ on 25 December 2024 as the fifteenth Christmas special since the show's revival in 2005.
In the episode, the Fifteenth Doctor discovers a mysterious briefcase in a strange hotel that harnesses the power of time travel as a gimmick. While investigating, he meets one-off companion Joy Almondo (Nicola Coughlan) who helps him solve the mystery.
"Joy to the World" was written by Steven Moffat and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai. It was filmed in October and November 2023. The episode was seen by 6.33 million viewers and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
Steph is an actor and director based in London and originally from Seaford, East Sussex.
Steph can currently be seen as Series Regular, Harriet Benson, in 'AFTER THE FLOOD' Series 2 on ITV.
Steph plays ANITA BENN in the DOCTOR WHO Xmas Special 2024 "Joy to the World" (BBC/Disney) opposite Ncuti Gatwa and Nicola Coughlan. Her role was reprised for the Series 15 finale: "The Reality War".
Other Acting Credits include: MAGIC GOES WRONG (West End,) MIDNIGHT TAXI Feature Film (Amazon Prime/ Apple TV); 5 UK Theatre Tours, Motion Capture for several AAA Video Games.

"We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best."
Wasn't it just! Nine Doctors, countless adventures, a menagerie of monsters and so many memories. I've tried to capture all of that in this trailer, celebrating the best of the revival era.
I've been away from the channel for a while, but ever since it was announced that the show was being paused, I had to put something together. Mainly to remember why this show means so much to me and why it has to come back, because why wouldn't it.
I've tried to fit in as many of my favourite bits as possible (hello Series 5) but of course, some things had to be missed (sorry Nardole & Dan).
This trailer wouldn't be possible without Shay Brown, who I commissioned to create a Doctor Who themed composition which would accompany the existing trailer music ('Abolition - Totem')
If you listen carefully, you can hear some of the Doctor's themes in there, as well as the main Doctor Who theme itself.
You can check out more of Shay's work here: https://www.youtube.com/@UCA-DwwMtO7tMHrNAzvQkBxg
Also a big thanks to Arbrax for helping with the BBC logo GFX at the start: https://www.youtube.com/@Arbrax
Let me know in the comments below what your favourite memories of the show are, whether that be an episode that hooked you, a monster that terrified you, or a moment that will always stick with you.
This is a non-profit fan project. I don't own Doctor Who - all rights belong to the BBC. No copyright infringement intended.

The 2025 BMW M4 CS ($150,000 starting in Canada, $123,500 starting in the US) is a lighter and more powerful version of the already-rapid BMW M4. It has a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-6 engine that makes 543 horsepower, and has a claimed 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds. To live up to its CS namesake, the M4 CS boasts some performance enhancing goodies. This includes the use of lightweight materials, specific chassis and suspension tuning, exclusive CS wheels and several other changes. But does it live up to its hefty six-figure price tag? And how does it compare to its CSL predecessor? Thomas and James can’t wait to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. SUBSCRIBE!
