The world got to know Gracie Abrams this year. More importantly, she got to know herself quite a bit better too. That’s the story behind ‘The Secret of Us,’ the singer-songwriter’s lush, confessional, and revelatory second album. The 13-song project arrived this summer in the wake of successful singles “Risk” and “Close to You,” a pair of tracks that stuck a couple toes out from under the whispery quilt of her previous work. Wisp moves softly around our DSCVR stage, whispering haunting lyrics about a lovelorn character, reminiscing over past relationships and unrequited love. Shrouded in strands of auburn hair, her mysterious demeanor belies her reputation as one of Gen Z’s most prominent shoegaze acts.
