Wisp - Your face | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2025

Wisp moves softly around our DSCVR stage, whispering haunting lyrics about a lovelorn character, reminiscing over past relationships and unrequited love. Shrouded in strands of auburn hair, her mysterious demeanor belies her reputation as one of Gen Z’s most prominent shoegaze acts. Her breakthrough single, “Your face,” sticks to the sound of the genre’s early ‘90s roots – fuzzy guitars, analog synths, and hazed out vocals – but recontextualizes it for the digital age, breathing new life into a scene often characterized by its unchanging sound.
In her breakthrough EP, ‘Pandora’, Wisp’s music isn’t exactly lo-fi, but it does have an underwater quality that becomes hypnotic as the project moves from song to song. Her moody, sometimes brutal, sound has transcended audiences, as rock and rap fans alike have rallied to support the California native’s rise. There’s even an edge in the way she talks about her past life as a college student majoring in comp-sci, “It was probably the thing that I hated the most at the time.” This My Bloody Valentine fan is a rare gem in our DSCVR Artists to Watch 2025 roster: a mysterious, poetic singer with heater after heater in a genre often thought dead.
