Lead actor Jonathan Carley said: “When I first took on the War Doctor, I thought, ‘We know a lot about what the Daleks and Time Lords are up to, but what about the Cybermen, the other big cheese in the Doctor Who world?’ I don't think they’ve ever been done in this era before.
“This one was sold to me with the opening line of ‘every Cyberman ever’. I was in, I was raring to go, and it has not disappointed – it's totally delivered on that, and a few original Cybermen in between.”
His co-star Mitra Djalili added: “I absolutely love it. I like a strong female lead and I’m very fortunate to be playing one. When I was a child watching Doctor Who, I never would have thought in a million years that later on down the line I’d be involved. And it’s absolutely wonderful.
“I relate to Nesta quite well. I wonder how much of a coincidence it is when I’m offered parts like this, because she’s quite brittle, she’s quite sarcastic, she doesn’t suffer fools gladly. She has the courage of her convictions, but she also does have a soft centre.”
